1. Senior PM

2. Search Service (SDE 2, Senior SDE, Principal SDE, Principal Manager)
   In just a few years, Office365 has become a multi-billion-dollar business, winning the title of the fastest growing product in Microsoft. Enterprise Search is a fundamental part of this business allowing users to search all their organization’s data. Enterprise Search delivers enterprise query features for millions of organizations, more than a hundred million users and well over an exabyte of data. We execute queries over hundreds of billions of documents stored by customers in SharePoint, OneDrive for Business and their other data stores.

   • Responsibilities
     • Tackle the challenges and opportunities that come with a very rapidly growing system. Both in running the service as well as meeting the needs of tomorrow.
     • Help to define the technical direction of the team and drive the implementation of that direction with special emphasis on ensuring quality through sound engineering processes.
     • Instill quality and excellence into the team culture by leading design and implementation efforts, actively monitoring the results, and making necessary adjustments.
     • Collaborate with teams across the world to deliver world class enterprise search.
   • Qualifications
     • BS/MS degree in computer science or related field
     • (SDE 2 3+ years, Senior SDE 5+ years, Principal Manager 8+ years)years of experience building, deploying, and supporting large scale applications and services

     • Strong C/C++/C#/Java coding skills

   In order to make this work for our customers, we need continual effort to make that delivery reliable. In order to drive reliability, we need you -- someone who already is, or is interested in becoming, a Site Reliability Engineer (also known as SRE). SRE’s with systems engineering skills come from a wide variety of backgrounds. Although a base level of competence in software is required, SRE’s have typically spent more time working at gluing systems together, creating and maintaining large scale architectures, looking after the end-to-end experience of the customer, or otherwise exercising excellent engineering judgement on a level above isolated methods. SRE’s are equally at home creating resilient architectures capable of surviving the failure of any individual component and painstakingly reconstructing the causal chain of an outage, to figure out how it can be improved.

   • Qualifications

     • Background in Computer Science equivalent to a B.Sc.5+ years of software development: automation-related experience valued in particular. Scripting languages such as bash, python, or PowerShell are relevant, but others are also useful.
     • Awareness of, and ability to reason about, modern software & systems architectures, including load-balancing, queueing, caching, distributed systems failure modes generally, microservices, and so on. Associated troubleshooting skills. Consequent understanding of monitoring in distributed systems.
     • Understanding of operating system level concepts such as processes, memory allocation, and the network stack; understanding of how applications are affected by the above, and ability to debug same.
     • Experience with working in a team, including coordinating large projects, communicating well, and exercising initiative when presented with problems.
     • Generally speaking, practical experience running large scale online systems is always an advantage.
